Palm Desert Development Company, a California Corporation, is a Real Estate Developer and builder specializing in residential construction since 1979. The company is owned 100% by Danavon L. Horn. Since its inception, Palm Desert Development Company has developed over 2,000 single family units in Riverside County alone. We have successfully completed and currently operate twelve tax credit multi-family communities throughout Riverside County approximately 1,000 units, including senior communities. PDDC maintains an up-front and sustained commitment to the communities we serve. We have an experienced in-house staff of development/construction professionals, consultants and a property management firm. Our size ensures that all staff members are accessible and our clients and are provided with the highest level of attention, while also minimizing costs.
To date we are proud to identify over 2000 single family homes valued at over $170 million and nine multi-family affordable housing communities valued at over $110 million in completed development. We are currently constructing two projects valued at over $21 million to be completed this year with an additional project valued at over $17 million beginning construction at the end of this year. We also have two projects valued at $27 million in the planning stages.
Palm Desert Development Company (PDDC) is a local California Corporation involved in the development of residential real estate. The company primarily develops affordable multi-family residential real estate in Southern California and Arizona. PDDC also serves a general partner in several Low-Income Housing Tax Credit limited partnerships and manages the portfolio generated through these partnerships. The company was founded in 1979 by its President and sole shareholder Danavon L. Horn. Mr. Horn has over 30 years in the development and construction industries.
Operations, Administration, Accounting & Finance duties are directed by James M. Jernigan, CPA. Mr. Jernigan has over 20 years experience in the construction industry and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in California. Mr. Jernigan joined the company as Chief Financial Offices in May of 1994. Mr. Jernigan is also the corporate secretary.
Design and Construction services duties are directed by Tom Hodgin, Associate AIA. Mr. Hodgin joined the company in 2004 as the Director of Construction Services. Mr. Hodgin brings 19 years of experience in Project/Construction Management, Construction Administration and coordination of architectural and engineering consultants for the company. Mr. Hodgin expects to obtain his Architect’s license in 2008.
Land Acquisitions is lead by William Leach who joined the company in 2005 as the Director of Acquisitions. Mr. Leach brings 10 years of experience in business management, team leadership, and mission accomplishment. Mr. Leach leads the acquisitions team in locating sites, structuring projects, testing feasibility, purchasing land, and obtaining subsidy.
New business development is performed by Ron Crisp. Mr. Crisp also works directly with local agencies to locate and structure projects to meet those agencies specific needs. Mr. Crisp is a licensed Real Estate Broker in California and has been involved in the development of affordable housing since 1998 and has been with Palm Desert Development since 2002.
