PROFILE

Palm Desert Development Company believes that making affordable rental units available to our low and moderate-income families and seniors is often the first step to ending the cycle of poverty.  By paying for housing that is affordable and participating in budget and finance classes offered by qualified social service providers, residents have the opportunity to learn how to save money for a down payment on a home, finance an education or start a business.  Obtaining affordable housing is the first step in achieving the American Dream.

PDDC has a long standing tradition of giving back to the communities we serve.  PDDC is a proud patron of the arts, community development projects and programs that serve children and families.  Our annual sponsorships include the Riverside County Fair Date Festival, McCallum Theater, and special programs in schools located in our project communities.  In 2009, our charitable contributions and sponsorships totaled over $45,000 and in 2008, PDDC donated $200,000 to the Moreno Valley YMCA capital campaign to build a new youth center.  In addition, PDDC employees raised over $12,200 to support the work of NAMI (National Alliance for Mental Illness) at the annual Walk-a-Thon held in November 2009.

Dan Horn and his staff are committed to the concept of planned development and positive growth. Dan's professional life has been devoted to residential construction, beginning his career as a laborer, working through the trades and later becoming a construction manager on family projects. He has great pride in being a second-generation affordable housing developer. Dan's hands-on experience gives Palm Desert Development Company a unique perspective as a developer and general contractor. PDDC has assembled a strong, competent team dedicated to the needs of the communities we serve.
